Khaby Lame, TikTok Sensation to Premiere Directorial Debut at Taormina Film Festival
Renowned for his “life hack” skits, Khaby Lame has transcended from a regular individual into a global brand— becoming TikTok’s most followed creator.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the TikTok sensation is moving from the (very) small screen to the big screen.
Born in the Western region of Africa, the social media influencer, who at the moment has 156.1 million followers on TikTok, is ready to world premiere his directorial short film debut at the 2023 Taormina Film Festival.
It is reported that Khaby has been invited by Bella Thorne—the curator of the “influential shorts” gala evening event, who is also set to introduce her short film. “Paint Her Red” during this film festival, alongside festival co-artistic director Barrett Wissman.
“Extremely creative and beyond current are Khaby’s strengths, I am blessed he is adding his voice to the exceptional evening I am putting together,” said Thorne.
Wissman added: “We are very thrilled to bring Khaby to Taormina for the festival. It is imperative for us to always be developing younger, fresh audiences through new media. Khaby helps us to bring diverse, young, international and Italian fans to our historic festival.”
