Kunle Afolayan, an Award-winning filmmaker Bags a National Award with 338 others

Kunle Afolayan is a celebrated African filmmaker who has earned a national award for his services to the Nigerian film industry. President Muhammadu Buhari bestowed him with the national honour for the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) on May 28, 2023. The award event will be held in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja— and will be graced by dignitaries from various sectors of the country on June 1, 2023. The recipients will officially receive their medals and certificates on June 1, 2023.

Afolayan thanked the president and the people of Nigeria for acknowledging his excellent efforts and contribution to the Nigerian Film Industry. He also reaffirms his commitment to the unity of his country via his Instagram account:

“I want to say thank you to the Federal Government for honouring me with the OON merit award. I really appreciate. I’m a Nigerian, and I believe so much in this country. And God bless Nigeria. Ire”
