The release of “Broken Portrait” is particularly timely as it coincides with the World Day Against Drug Abuse and Illegal Trafficking on June 26th. This day, established by the United Nations, is dedicated to raising awareness about the major problem that illicit drugs represent to society. It also serves as a call to action for communities, governments, and individuals to work together in combating drug abuse and illegal trafficking.

According to a report by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), 14.3 million people aged between 15 and 64 in Nigeria abuse drugs. This alarming statistic underscores the urgent need for initiatives that bring this issue to the forefront of public discourse. “Broken Portrait” aims to do just that by shedding light on the often-overlooked impact of addiction on families.

“Broken Portrait is more than just a film; it’s a call for awareness and empathy,” says Richmond Amechi, the director of the film. “By telling this story, we hope to spark conversations about the ripple effects of drug addiction and inspire action to support affected families.”

We invite media outlets, community organizations, and the general public to join us in raising awareness about drug addiction and its impact on families. Follow our social media channels for updates, behind-the-scenes content, and exclusive interviews with the cast and crew.
